A FlickerFaith Verified Minister is a pastor, chaplain, elder, deacon, evangelist, missionary, Bible teacher or ministry staff member whose credential has been confirmed with the body that issued it. Nobody is verified on their own say-so. Verified Ministers volunteer to read and answer the questions people send from inside the app, privately, on their own schedule, and they are held to the same standard throughout: no identities, no emergencies, no ratings, and standing that can be suspended or revoked.
"Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind" — 1 Peter 5:2
What does verification check?
An application asks for the things a credential can actually be checked against: full legal name, contact details, ministry title, church or ministry affiliation, denominational affiliation, current position, years in ministry, the body that issued the credential, and a license or credential number if one exists. A mailing address and a public ministry profile help confirm the match faster.
FlickerFaith then contacts the issuing body — the denomination, licensing board, seminary or local church — and confirms the credential before the applicant can see a single question. If an ordination was by a local church rather than a licensing body, the church is named and contacted directly. Application details are used only to verify and to contact the applicant about serving; they are never shown to the people asking questions, and never sold or shared.
Which roles can be verified?
The network recognises the following credentials. A minister's own wording for their office is shown to askers, so a chaplain reads as a chaplain.
- ✓Ordained minister
- ✓Licensed minister
- ✓Senior pastor
- ✓Associate pastor
- ✓Chaplain
- ✓Evangelist
- ✓Missionary
- ✓Elder
- ✓Deacon
- ✓Ministry director
- ✓Bible teacher
- ✓Youth minister
- ✓Worship minister
- ✓Counselor on church staff
Ministers with another recognised credential can apply and describe it; verification follows the same path. Applying does not create an account and does not make anyone a Verified Minister. Places are opened as the need appears and matched to the traditions, languages and areas of gifting people actually ask for.
What does a Verified Minister do?
Reads the queue
Each waiting question shows its topic, how long it has waited, a one-line summary written without identifying detail, and a safety flag. Nothing more until a minister chooses it.
Chooses what to take
Nothing is assigned. A minister takes the questions they are the right person for and leaves the rest. Declining costs nothing and is never counted.
Replies in their own words
The reply is labelled as human and signed with the minister's first name and verified role. Askers can write back; the same minister answers.
Sets their own pace
Every minister sets a weekly cap and can pause at any time. A question a minister cannot finish returns to the queue and their weekly count is refunded.
What a Verified Minister never does
- Never sees who is asking. No name, email, phone number, location or chat history. Only the question, its topic and any study notes the asker chose to attach.
- Never takes emergency duty. Connect is not an emergency service. Crisis lines and emergency services are named to the asker first, every time, and a minister is offered only alongside them.
- Never stands in for a counsellor, doctor or lawyer. Safeguarding, mental-health, medical, legal and financial matters are pointed to qualified help before a minister is offered for prayer and support.
- Never competes. There are no ratings, no answer totals, no response-time leaderboard and no public rank. Routing treats eligibility as a gate, spreads load fairly, and never reads popularity.
- Never pays or is paid. Serving is free, and nothing an asker pays buys a volunteer's time.
How are ministers held accountable?
Verification is a standing, not a badge. A Verified Minister's standing is read live every time they open the queue, and it can be suspended or revoked. Askers can block any minister permanently and can report any reply; reports go to FlickerFaith's safeguarding review, not to the minister. A question that enters the queue at the highest safety level also notifies the safeguarding team so a staff member is watching it as well as the minister who takes it. Suspension or revocation releases every question the minister was holding back to the queue, so nobody is left waiting on someone who has stepped away.
The asker, for their part, is anonymous, and the minister sees the safety flag before opening anything, so nobody takes on more than they are prepared for. Ministers are asked to reply from Scripture, in their own tradition's honest voice, and to point people back toward a local church rather than toward themselves.
Why no ratings, no leaderboards, no counts?
Because every one of those incentives works against what the network is for. A system that rewards whoever answers most, fastest or most memorably turns service into a scoreboard and pushes ministers toward volume. FlickerFaith's routing is deliberately not a leaderboard: eligibility (verified, available, covers the topic and language, under their own weekly cap, not blocked by the asker) is a hard gate that no score can outweigh; fair distribution of load outranks raw speed; and nothing in the ordering reads answer volume or popularity. A minister's profile shows nothing countable at all.
"And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also." — 2 Timothy 2:2
How do I apply?
If you are a pastor, chaplain, elder, deacon, evangelist, missionary, Bible teacher or ministry staff member and would like to answer the questions an app should not answer alone, the application takes a few minutes. We confirm your credential with the body that issued it, keep your application on file, and invite you by email when a place fits your background. There is no cost and no obligation to accept.
Frequently asked questions
What is a Verified Minister?
A FlickerFaith Verified Minister is a pastor, chaplain, elder, deacon, evangelist, missionary, Bible teacher or ministry staff member whose credential has been confirmed with the body that issued it: a denomination, licensing board, seminary or local church. Verified Ministers volunteer to answer questions people send from inside the app, privately and on their own schedule.
How does FlickerFaith verify a minister?
The applicant names the body that issued their credential, with a license or credential number where one exists. FlickerFaith contacts that body and confirms the credential before the applicant can see any question. Nobody is verified on their own say-so.
Which ministry roles can be verified?
Ordained and licensed ministers, senior and associate pastors, chaplains, evangelists, missionaries, elders, deacons, ministry directors, Bible teachers, youth and worship ministers, and counselors on church staff. Other recognised credentials can be described on the application and are verified the same way.
Are Verified Ministers paid?
No. They are unpaid volunteers who set their own weekly limits and can pause at any time. Nothing an asker pays FlickerFaith buys a volunteer's time.
What does a Verified Minister see about the person asking?
Only the question, its topic, a one-line summary and any study notes the asker chose to attach. Never a name, email, phone number, location or chat history. The asker sees the minister's first name and verified role.
Can a Verified Minister lose their standing?
Yes. Standing is read live and can be suspended or revoked. Askers can block any minister permanently and report any reply to FlickerFaith's safeguarding review. Suspension releases every question the minister was holding back to the queue.
Does applying guarantee I will be verified?
No. Every application is reviewed and kept on file. Places are opened as the need appears and matched to the traditions, languages and areas of gifting people are asking for. If a place fits your background, you will receive an invitation by email.
