How Minister in the Loop Works

What happens, in order, when you send a question to a verified minister inside FlickerFaith.

Tap the people icon under any answer, choose whether to include your study notes, and send. Your question goes to the verified-minister queue with a topic and a one-line summary. One minister chooses to take it, reads it, and replies in the app, usually within a few days. You can write back to the same person, withdraw before it is taken, delete afterwards, and block anyone at any time. Your name, contact details and chat history never leave your account.

"Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established." — Proverbs 15:22

The seven steps

1

Start with the question

Ask FlickerFaith as you normally would, in chat. Or open Connect directly from All Tools or Settings if you already know you want a person.

2

Tap the people icon

Under any answer, tap the people icon and choose "Ask a verified minister." If the AI has already judged that a person would help, a card under the answer offers the same thing.

3

Decide what travels with it

Your question always goes. Your study notes (the AI's answer) go only if you leave the toggle on, and you can preview them first. Your name, contact details and chat history never go.

4

It waits in the queue

Ministers see the topic, how long it has waited, a one-line summary written without identifying detail, and a safety flag. The question's own words are encrypted and opened only for the minister who takes it.

5

One minister chooses it

Nothing is assigned. A verified minister who is available, covers the topic and language, and has room in their own weekly cap chooses to take it. Declining costs them nothing.

6

The reply arrives in the app

You get a notification. The reply is signed with the minister's first name and the role they were verified under. Write back; the same person answers.

7

You stay in control

Withdraw a question before it is taken. Delete the conversation afterwards. Block any minister, and report anything that concerns you; reports go to a safeguarding review.

What does the minister see?

Before taking the question

  • ✓The topic you chose
  • ✓How long it has been waiting
  • ✓A one-line summary, written in the third person with any name, address, phone number or email removed
  • ✓A safety flag, if the question carries one

After taking it

  • ✓Your question, in full
  • ✓Your study notes, only if you chose to attach them
  • ✓Your follow-up messages in that thread

Never, at any point

  • ×Your name, email address, phone number or location
  • ×Your chat history, prayer journal, reading progress or anything else in your account
  • ×Questions you withdrew before they were taken
  • ×Anything at all, once you have blocked them

What you see about them

  • ✓Their first name
  • ✓The role they were verified under (pastor, chaplain, elder, Bible teacher and so on)
  • ✓Where a church verified them, that church's name
  • ✓Nothing countable: no ratings, no answer totals, no response-time leaderboard

How long does a reply take?

Usually a few days. Verified Ministers are volunteers serving on their own schedule. Each sets a weekly limit on how many questions they will take, and each can step away whenever they need to. Nobody is on call, and the app says so before you send: Connect is not an emergency service and is never presented as one. If a minister takes your question and then cannot finish it, it goes back to the queue for someone else, and their weekly count is refunded so there is never a reason to hold a question they cannot answer.

What if the AI thinks you need a person before you ask?

Every answer FlickerFaith gives carries a quiet decision about whether a person should be involved. For an ordinary Bible question, nothing happens; the answer stands on its own. When a question is about your own life — a calling, a conflict in your church, grief, confession, a decision you are weighing — a card under the answer offers to send it to a Verified Minister and explains what will travel with it. The same card appears if you simply say you wish you could talk to a real person. You can ignore the card; it never sends anything by itself.

The five levels of that decision, and why the safety levels are decided by fixed rules rather than the AI's judgement, are laid out on the Minister in the Loop page.

What happens in a crisis?

If a message shows any sign of danger to yourself or someone else, the first thing on screen is immediate help: in the U.S., call or text 988, or your local emergency number. A Verified Minister can offer prayer and spiritual support after you reach that help, never instead of it, and the app says exactly that. A question that enters the queue at the highest safety level also notifies FlickerFaith's safeguarding team, so a person is checking on it as well as the minister who takes it. Ministers see the safety flag before they open anything, so nobody takes on more than they are prepared for.

If you are in danger right now, reach a real person immediately. In the U.S., call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, 24/7) or call 911 for a life-threatening emergency. Outside the U.S., use your local emergency number.

What does it cost?

Nothing. Ministers are unpaid volunteers, and asking is free. A free account can send one question per rolling seven days; Premium removes that weekly limit. Everyone, Premium included, has a cap on how many questions can be open and waiting at once, so no one person can fill the queue. Nothing you pay ever buys more of a volunteer's time, only more of your own.

Where is it available?

The verified-minister network is open in the United States today. Ministers in other countries are being verified as the network grows, and the app will tell you plainly if Connect is not yet open where you are. The Scripture-first AI itself is available worldwide, in about 50 languages.

Can my church route questions to its own ministers?

Yes. A church can have its congregation's questions go only to leaders the church has authorised, under the church's own name, with a response window the church sets (typically within 72 hours). Members see "Ask my church" instead of the general network. Ask our partnerships team through the Partners page, and read the leader's guide in human-in-the-loop AI for churches.

Frequently asked questions

How do I send a question to a verified minister in FlickerFaith?

Under any answer, tap the people icon and choose "Ask a verified minister." Decide whether your study notes travel with the question (your name and chat history never do), then send. You can also open Connect from All Tools or Settings. Replies arrive in the app, usually within a few days.

Can I include the AI's answer when I send my question?

Yes, and it is your choice. Leave the study-notes toggle on to send the AI's answer as context; tap Preview to read exactly what will go. Turn it off and only your question is sent.

Can I withdraw a question?

Yes, at any time before a minister takes it, from My Questions. After it has been answered you can delete the conversation, and you can block the minister so nothing of yours ever reaches them again.

Will the same minister answer my follow-up?

Yes. When you write back inside the thread, the minister who took your question is the one who answers, so you never explain yourself twice.

How many questions can I send?

A free account can send one question per rolling seven days; Premium removes the weekly limit. Everyone has a cap on how many questions can be waiting at once. Asking is free and ministers are unpaid volunteers.

Is Connect an emergency service?

No. Nobody is on call and replies take days. At any sign of danger the app puts crisis lines first: in the U.S., call or text 988 or your local emergency number. A minister can support you after you reach that help, never instead of it.
